Meet Dr. Gear

Karen Gear, DDS has been a practicing Dentist for 20 years after she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1989. Dr. Gear has been practicing as an Endodontist for the last 16 years after completing the Endodontic Specialty training program from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1993. 

Dr. Gear is also a clinical attending at Harlem Hospital Center, Department of Dentistry/Columbia University Affiliate. Dr. Gear is responsible for providing didactic information and assisting post graduate dental residents in improving their clinical skills relating to endodontics.

Dr. Gear is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists.

Meet Dr. Small

Chanelle Small, DDS received her Certificate of Endodontics from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA and both her Doctor of Dental Surgery and her undergraduate degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She has worked at the Interfaith Medical Center, Department of Dentistry, as well as having extensive experience in private practice. Dr. Small is also a noted researcher and published scholarly papers on dental issues.

Service has always been a top priority for Dr. Small as she participated in numerous community health projects while a dental student. She continued this dedication to service while in Boston, volunteering her time as a supervising dentist at a medical and dental clinic for homeless and runaway teens. Last year, Dr Small participated in an international service mission to the island of Haiti where she provided free dental care and education.

Dr. Small is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists and the American Dental Association. Outside of the office, Dr. Small enjoys family, fitness, reading and travel.
